About The Artist, Ilse Jouette

Ilse Jouette has exhibited in galleries in Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles, Memphis, St. Croix, Clarksdale, MS and on Caribbean blues cruises.  Her work can be found in the collections and estates of such notables as Eric Clapton, BB King, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Willis, Louie Bellson and President Clinton.  The piece that legendary Ruth Brown gave to President Clinton is in the Clinton Library and appeared on the front page of the New York Times.

With clients all over the United States and Europe, Ilse enjoys the reputation of being known as the musician’s music artist. Many artists paint portraits of musicians, but Ilse can be found backstage with them and has formed lasting friendships with many. Perhaps that is her secret to capturing the expressive essence of her subjects.

Her work covers just about every music genre, however, her personal passion is blues. She has painted many performers and has a collection of portraits that have been signed by the musician.  Ilse is also well known for her collection of whimsical cats playing musical instruments…all perfect gifts for music lovers.

The artist works primarily in watercolor and brush and ink, however she also has pieces available in acrylics, charcoal, and mixed media collage. The collection includes originals and giclee prints. Ilse also designs one of-a-kind artwear for musicians and music lovers.
